Alternative energy car designers seem to be hard at work creating the next cool car that can be run off pretty much anything. This one is really great, magnetic energy car. Now it is a bit small… but it uses magnetic energy, how cool is that?

The magnetic energy Concept car was designed by car designer, Harsha Vardha. Harsha thinks that cars could be manufactured using technology that no car manufaturer has ever tried, yep, magnetism.

The concept magnetic / electric powered car generates power in the form of electricity from magnetic fields and the power generated from those.

Eco Factor is the design, it’s a Zero emission concept car powered by a magnetic field that is converted into electricity to power the car.

Tata motors created some buzz when they first showed off the air car some time ago, now seems the project is picking up steam with plans on bringing the air powered car to the US next year.

The models were called oneCat and miniCat and rumor has it that those same models that were slated for Indian roads may hit U.S. roads as well.

The company planning to bring the air cars to the U.S. is called ZPM (Zero Pollution Motors).The first air-powered car to hit U.S. streets is supposed to be priced at around $17,800 with about a 75-hp engine. There are also plans for a 6 seat,  large version for the U.S. market.  The Indian models, OneCat and MiniCat are 2 and 3 seat models.

The air cars are said to be able to go as fast as 95 mph and have a range of 1000 miles on each fill up of, well, air. As it stands now, the cars should be available in the U.S. by early 2010.

Here’s a really cool car even though the concept sounds a bit far fetched but seems a professor in Japan has created a car that runs on water, talk about cheap, easy attainable fuel.

The company responsible for the car is called Genepax. The hi tech car works by extracting the hydrogen from the water that is poured into the cars tank. Electrons are then somehow released producing electricity to power the motor.

The company does have plans for this concept car with plans to mass produce the water car.

Jun. 13 – Japanese company Genepax presents its eco-friendly car that runs on nothing but water.

The car has an energy generator that extracts hydrogen from water that is poured into the car’s tank. The generator then releases electrons that produce electric power to run the car. Genepax, the company that invented the technology, aims to collaborate with Japanese manufacturers to mass produce it.

Combining a car and a bike? this may be the wrong way to do it below.

Homemade motorcycle cars, well homemade as in created by individuals and not an auto manufacturer.  This one is in Italy and looks like someone took a bike and enclosed it. The tiny little side tires look like training wheels and really need to go. If it wasn’t for the training wheels, this bike would look really sweet.

Hawk Concept Car

The Hawk Concept car / bike was created by a designer from New Zealand – Alex Hodge. It is a concept car that combines a motorcycle engine with some features you find in cars such as more room, an enclosure for increased safety and high back seat.

The Baron Margo Rocket Car is a creative mix of bike / car and… a rocket. Now, I’m not sure if the rocket part of it really works. That would be a bit scary if it did, would not want to be behind him at a light.

It’s odd that in 60 years of car companies building concept cars, not much has changed, they always seem really rounded, even when the styles where boxy, and always, very futuristic.

The flyboat, one very early concept that may not have even had any wheels. OK, not really a car, but I love this one.

1964 future car, not sure what they where thinking here because this is just plain ugly. Most Concept cars look sleek and hopefully cool, no matter what year, this one here looks like a bad Jaws movie coming at you. Jaws may be too cool for this one… OK,  how about a salmon swimming upstream at you? The front end just reminds me of fish… go figure.

Let’s check out the speed of these tiny autos. Here is a drag race between the two rivals, Tesla EV VS. Tango EV. Now, I hear if you get one of these your trips to the gas station may be cut down to a once year chore… if you use it for short distances, it may go as far as once in a car’s lifetime.

The giant ship will be called “The Oasis of the Seas” and will accommodate 5400 guests plus 3000 crew. Now that’s more people than what occupy the city I live in.

Royal Caribbean  says the ship will have two 24 hour buffets and have 16 decks to hold the 2,700 state rooms they pan on having. The Oasis will be around 1200 ft. long, 154 ft. wide and come up 213 ft. above sea level. This ship is going to actually have neighborhoods that revolve around certain themes.

The air car is made by Tata Motors, an Indian company, in collaboration with the French company MDI.  The production models will be sold in Europe and Australia. Seems they thought that bringing it to the U.S. would not be a great idea because of the lower speeds and power… maybe they need to reconsider that since the gas price issue hit the U.S.

The OneCAT, is supposed to be the first production model made for urban and rural driving specifically designed to be driven in congested cities and priced in the $5,100 to $7,800 range has a range of 125 miles before needing more air. Gas stations will have compressors and the charge about $2 per fill-up.
