Fake Rolls Royce

Cool rides, Expensive toys, Large Things, concept cars, knock off May 7th, 2009

It seems that the company that makes the Rolls is not too happy with China car manufacturers. The 2009 Shanghai auto show showcased a copy of the Rolls Royce for a retail price fractions of the original. The copy cat Rolls is priced under 50k and looks so similarthat it may fool anyone who doen’t work for Rolls. The fake Rolls is called the Geely GE and it is reported that Rolls has their lawyers on the case. I bet they do.

Soccer House

Crazy Homes, Large Things March 13th, 2009

Show the world you’re a fan and live in your own soccer ball. Yes, you can. Or at lest you can in Japan where I believe this home is. This house is called Baria’s Soccer Ball Home. The house is consoccer housestructed like a soccer ball would be out of 32 panels that make up a room or living space.Problem is, if you want more than a 1 room house, the thing will stop looking like a soccer ball and maybe resemble a hamster trail because each 32 panel ball is only 1 room and a full home with multiple rooms needs to be constructed of multiple balls put together.

Normally soccer balls are made of PVC, leather and other soft materials. In this case, the soccer ball is made of 32 panels of steel reinforced, glass fiber fabric. I also hear that the steel reinforced, glass fiber fabric is available in all sorts of colors, just in case the standard black and white wasn’t cool enough.  Popular Soccer

World’s Largest Cruise Ship

Cool rides, Large Things December 4th, 2008

Yep, seems ship builders did in fact learn something from the Titanic…. If you wanna build the world’s largest ship, make sure it sails in tropical waters. That is exactly what Royal Caribbean plans on doing with the “floating city” it is building.

the oasis of the seas

The giant ship will be called “The Oasis of the Seas” and will accommodate 5400 guests plus 3000 crew. Now that’s more people than what occupy the city I live in.

Royal Caribbean  says the ship will have two 24 hour buffets and have 16 decks to hold the 2,700 state rooms they pan on having. The Oasis will be around 1200 ft. long, 154 ft. wide and come up 213 ft. above sea level. This ship is going to actually have neighborhoods that revolve around certain themes.

I found this chart for comparison of past giant vessels, btw, the Oasis will weigh 220, 000 tons

Hopefully, Unlike previous monster ships, these guys will at least include enough life rafts for the 8000+ people aboard…. just in case the floating city needed an evacuation.
