Weird Stuff – Clocky Alarm Clock – weird Clock

In the realm of weird stuff, Nanda Home makes a really bizarre, but kinda cool, alarm clock / sick toy.

Clocky, the robot Alarm Clock is the hi tech solution for people who have a really hard time waking up and getting out of bed. You know, the ones that tend to just shut off the alarm and go back to sleep.

Clocky is not an ordinary, stand there and beep type of clock. Clocky has wheels and the ability to jump off your night stand and roll around your room.

The manufacturer has this description of Clocky:

The patented alarm clock that runs away and hides to get you out of bed. Clocky gives you one chance to get up. But if you snooze, Clocky will jump off your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide, beeping all the while. You’ll have to get out of bed to silence his alarm. Clocky is kind of like a misbehaving pet, only he will get up at the right time.

Definitely a cool idea, too bad I can’t see these lasting long since by the time you catch the thing, you may be inclined to throw it out a window and silence Clocky for good.

Clocky runs on 4 AAA batteries, comes in 2 different colors and retails for around 50 bucks. Lumens has one for 49.99

The Art Lebedev company presents a new generation of keyboards. This is not a keyboard, this is a high tech work of art that may be framed in the homes of true computer nerds.

Each key is a stand-alone display that shows the function currently assigned to it.Optimus’s customizable layout allows convenient use of any language—Cyrillic, Ancient Greek, Georgian,Arabic, Quenya, hiragana, etc.—as well as of any other character set: notes, numerals, special symbols, HTML codes, math functions and so on to infinity.

Each key on this ultra cool, and did I mention ultra expensive, keyboard is a screen display. The keyboard keys are not really keys, but individual modules consisting of a moving cap, a microchip and a display, yep, each key has a chip and display in it.

The Optimus Keyboard also has room for many plugs, even a card reader.

If The Optimus is not fancy enough a gadget for your hi tech taste? Check out the companies next generation of keyboards. This other Optimus line is so advanced, it doesn’t even have keys.

The entire keyboard is a video display that can be custom programmed in many configurations, no price tag on this one yet.

The Jet Car, yes, unlike others that only look like a rocket, this one is the real deal.

Ed Shadle and Keith Zanghi wanted to break the 800 mph land speed record in the US. So how do you do that… ummm, maybe with a rocket car,

This rocket car is called the North American Eagle and is actually powered by a 1957 Lockheed F-104 Starfighter’s 42,500 horsepower engine.

The jetcar is not a cheap one to drive. Using 160 gallons of gas a minute, a few minute run can will force you to put your kids, wife and pets to work just to pay your monthly gas bills.

Looks like a cool toy for anyone who can afford it and may have a death wish.

The pair above may have some competition for that land speed record from the Aussie Invader Rocket car. The Aussie invader rocket car is not small. The jet car is 55 feet in length and has a 10 ft. height tailfin…. definitely wouldn’t fit in my garage.

The Aussie Invader – featuring 300,000 horses of LOX / JP5 rocket power

From their site AUSSIE INVADER . COM

After seeing X-Prize winner SpaceShipOne, McGlashan, “The fastest Aussie on Earth,” wondered if rocket motors could propel him up to speeds of 1,609 km/h. So he called up SpaceDev, the company who provided the rocket motor technology for the world’s first
private-sector astronaut mission. He also enlisted the help of John “Ackers” Ackroyd, the designer of 1983’s land-speed-record-breaking car Thrust 2. They came up a wingless rocket-powered jet fighter on wheels.

OK, not all of us can either afford a jet car nor risk our lives for a few minutes of ultimate speed. Here a a few alternatives…

Strap the rocket to a cheap car and save millions on engineering and manufacturing.

Create a tour bus that looks like a rocket, hey, this one can make you money

and there is the Baron Margo rocket car which is a motorcycle car that happens to look like a rocket to give you that ultra cool feeling.

I guess this one may have been a bit disappointing, but a goot try none the less.

The Budweiser rocket car was built in 1979 and they planned to breakland speed records with a rocket car that could exceed the speed of sound. The Budweiser rocket car was supposed to be the very first land vehicle to break the sound barrier.

Stan Barrett drove the jet car on Dec. 17, 1979 and the rest is wrapped in controversy. It seems no one knows if the vehicle broke the sound barrier or not. I must wonder where the speedometer was here, but the rumor is that no sonic boom was heard pointing to maybe, the sound barrier was not broken.

This really is one cool ride, kinda a cross between a Soap Box racer and a minivan bred to a ATV. Now if George Clooney has one, the ride must be incredibly cool. Noww, George Clooney is a big boy and I gotta admit I just can’t see him squeezing into that thing and put putting around town. But, George does look ultra cool leaning on the very compact car.

Let’s check out the speed of these tiny autos. Here is a drag race between the two rivals, Tesla EV VS. Tango EV. Now, I hear if you get one of these your trips to the gas station may be cut down to a once year chore… if you use it for short distances, it may go as far as once in a car’s lifetime.

Thanks to this gadget, High powered Eavesdropping is no longer a sport played by the Bush administration and the US Government. Now, ordinary citizens can play in the big leagues. Listen to your neighbors, spy on the wife, listen to your coworkers conversations and feel safe in the fact that nobody within 300 ft. will be able to speak a word without you knowing about it!

Check out this baby! This is the Listening Dish NG3800. This is the ultimate gift for the paranoid computer geek who moonlights as the neighborhood peeping tom. Not only does it capture the sound from 100’s of feet away, but video is captured as well thanks to the ultra powerful handy dandy Zoom lens. Plus, as a bonus, it has a built in recorder so you can play back anything that went by too fast over and over until you make it out.

Record people talking behind your back and play back the evidence when they deny it! Ultra Cool! The product description below also states that if you cant make the audio out completely, the optical zoom will allow you to read their lips. WOW!

From the product description page here are the really cool and creepy selling points:

“Eavesdrop on what your boss is saying in the parking lot–or find out what’s really going on with your kids and their friends. Get a tip at the racetrack, hear what the police are telling someone at a takedown, listen to what two suspicious-looking men are planning down at the corner. “

Yes, this extraordinarily powerful, electronic listening device lets you “hear” and “see” from 300 feet away. Viewfinder with 10x prism optical system lets you zoom in and see what you’re hearing close up. Sounds and images impossible for the human ears and eyes to pick up will now seem as if you’re only a couple of feet away. Imagine sitting in the upper deck of a pro baseball stadium and being able to hear and see players talking in the dugout. Outdoorsmen and nature lovers will be thrilled at the sound quality of this ingenious listening device. The Orbitor Electronic Listening Device features a playback system that records up to 12 seconds and comfortable, full-size headphones. Requires 1 9V battery (not included). Is someone talking about you? Now you’ll know.

To enhance your use of the Orbiter Electronic Listening Device, we’ve added a playback system that records up to 12 seconds on the digital chip–so you not only hear from afar, you have an electronic record of it. The viewfinder has a 10x prism optical system to view your subject even closer, so if you’re checking out a person, you’re able to read their lips as well.

Want one? I know you do. For around $600 (I think) you can be top dawg of the neighborhood watch program in your area and the envy of every peeping Tom from miles around. Hey, and no worries about getting busted… you can here en coming from blocks away!

If you save files to your computer, you may want a “just in case” layer of protection so your family doesn’t find out you’ve been spying.
